The “development” of Meath continues.
Eirgrid, the state-owned electricity power transmission company in Ireland plans to build a network of high voltage overhead power lines through the Royal County of Meath linking the country’s electricity to Northern Ireland. The lines will run for over 58 kilometres through Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, crossing the border to County Tyrone in NI.

Today, on the 30th December 2007, thousands of residents of Meath and other counties formed a massive human chain spelling out the words: “No Pylons Here.”

This is similar to a protest held on the Hill of Tara on September 23rd, 2007, when thousands formed themselves into a gigantic Harp to protest the M3 Motorway, which if built, will cut the Tara -Skreen Valley in two.
